I would like to watch an Aikido session before I train -is this possible?
Of course. We would highly recommend you watch a class before you decide to train to get a feel for the members and the martial art.
I would like to train but I’m not sure what to wear…
Please wear loose fitting clothing such as old tracksuit bottoms and T-shirt. Eventually if you wish to continue to train you will need to purchase a training uniform known as a ‘dogi’. These are relatively inexpensive and are essential in order to progress with training.
How much is each class?
The club charges a monthly membership rather than individual mat fees. The membership fee’s for the club are as follows:
- Monthly membership: £40 (payable by standing order or post-dated cheque’s) which includes your annual PI insurance.
- One off classes: £10
Is there an Introductory Aikido Class?
This is the perfect way to introduce people to the basic principles of Aikido. These are held on regularly throughout the year, please contact us to find out when the next course starts.
How long will it take me to get my black belt?
Meikyokai Aikido follows the grading syllabus of the Yoshinkan Honbu Dojo. With diligent and constant training one can usually grade for their black belt within three to five years.
